Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It’s not. Dr. Seuss (The Lorax)

Nearly all of the children served by The Learning Collaborative live in poverty, are parented by a single caregiver with limited education and come from an at-risk neighborhood. Research tells us these children will enter kindergarten behind their more advantaged peers, will experience marked difficulty learning to read, and are more likely to drop out before graduation. Overall, they are less likely to succeed in life than children from more enriched environments.

Your support of The Learning Collaborative will make a pivotal difference in the lives of struggling children by helping to provide a quality pre-school education that will prepare them for success in school.

If you're an employee - Ask at work whether your company has a matching gifts program. Your donation can go twice as far if you send it with your employer's matching gift form. Contact us if you have questions regarding the process.

If you’re an employer - Matching your employees’ gifts to Family Focus makes you a strong partner in supporting your community. Your support enables us to empower future generations and build a stronger society.

There are many ways to include a charitable gift in your will, trust, or estate plan. Planned gifts such as annuities and trusts may provide you with funds during your lifetime, while also supporting The Learning Collaborative. Such a gift can be structured in a way that does not jeopardize your current financial needs or those of your loved ones. We encourage you to contact your professional advisor to plan a gift that meets your philanthropic goals and expresses your generosity and caring.

A gift of stock (or other appreciated property) entitles you to a tax deduction for the market value of the donated stock (not just the cost basis). If the stock you wish to donate has been held for more than one year, you can avoid capital gains tax on any appreciation of the stock by donating the stock prior to sale. The Learning Collaborative benefits by selling the stock without paying taxes on the gain, and you benefit from making a contribution that would be larger than what you might have been able to otherwise donate.

To ensure that you receive appropriate credit for your stock gift, please contact Shannon McKnight (704) 377-8076 x 210 with your information (including name, stock and number of shares).
