Community Partners

The Learning Collaborative relies on many wonderful community partners for expertise and support, including:

Charlotte Country Day School eighth grade students visit monthly to read, work puzzles, and interact with students. Each fall, CCDS also hosts the children of TLCat acarnival on their campus.The middleschool students also organize awinter coat drive.

Charlotte Latin School donates books for our on-sitelibraryand for children to take home.

Charlotte Youth Ballet, through the generosity of CYB, its supporters and families, our 32 pre-kindergartners will attend the school performance of the CYB spring ballet, The Wizard of Oz, free of charge.

Consumer Credit Counseling provides budgeting workshops and counseling to parents.

Crowder Construction hosts an annual, school wide, Holiday Celebration.Not only do the children hear holiday stories and playholiday games, they each receive a gift, so do the teachers and staff.

Encore Catering, part of the Community Culinary School of Charlotte, provides TLC children with a hot meal each school day.

Go Your Own Way, Inc. our on-site occupational therapist, coaches our teachers on waysto strengthenall children’s motor skills and build their core.

Interactive Health Therapies, our on-site speech therapist is in continualcollaboration with our teachers helping them understand language developmentand identify delays.

Johnston YMCA and the Myers Park Presbyterian Women, through their partnership with TLC, all 64 children take weekly swim lessons

Junior League of Charlotte provides a monthly evening family meal and childcare while parents attend educational talks.

Kilpatrick – Townsend associates visit TLC each month and work with a preschool class on arts and crafts projects. They also sponsor children each year at Christmas. In the spring, Kilpatrick – Townsend participates in the Trike – a – Thon to benefit St. Jude’s.

Myers Park Presbyterian Church participates in a mentoring program with select preschool families called Family to Family.

Myers Park United Methodist Church offers the children an opportunity to attend Summer Fun Days, a two weeksummer camp, tuition free.

SCOR Global Life Americas sponsored and books and arts and crafts supplydrive.

Southeast Psych’s highly trained staff is providing family classes on a variety of parenting topics.

United Way, in conjunction with Council for Children’s Rights, issponsoringthe Collective Impact Education Outcome Efforts. Focusing on key benchmarks along the 0-18 continuum that influence academic success, TLC and other United Way agencies will have access to academic measurements allowing us to monitor academic progress beyond our doors.

Woodlawn School 10th graders sponsors an “Itty Bitty Book Drive” for the school and helped the children along with their Read-A-Thon goals.

Whole Foods donated time and talent to create an indoor play and learning space for our children.
